The Gulabi Kantha Trek is an offbeat adventure in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, offering pristine beauty away from the crowds. Named for the pink (gulabi) rhododendron blooms that cover the ridge (kantha) during spring, this trek takes you through dense forests, beautiful meadows, and offers panoramic views of major Himalayan peaks including Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Chaukhamba.
Gulabi Kantha is a hidden gem in the Uttarakhand Himalayas, perfect for trekkers seeking solitude and untouched natural beauty. The trek reaches a maximum altitude of 12,500 feet and offers diverse landscapes ranging from dense oak and rhododendron forests to vast alpine meadows.
During spring (April-May), the forests come alive with vibrant pink rhododendron blooms, giving the trek its name 'Gulabi' (rosy) Kantha (ridge). The trail passes through traditional Garhwali villages where you can experience the authentic culture and lifestyle of the mountain communities.
The trek begins from Debal village (6,500 feet), accessible by road from Rishikesh. From Debal, the trail gradually ascends through dense forests to reach Gulabi Kantha Base Camp (9,800 feet). The next day involves a steeper climb to Gulabi Kantha Top (12,500 feet), offering panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks.
